Shipping, Returns, Policies & Installation Information

Please review the information below before placing your order. By purchasing from Northern Tint, you acknowledge and agree to the policies, product information, and customer responsibilities outlined on this page.

Important Before Installation

Inspect all products before removing the liner, shrinking, trimming, applying the film to glass, or otherwise beginning installation. If anything appears damaged, incorrect, defective, or questionable, stop and contact Northern Tint before proceeding.

Shipping & Processing Information

Shipping Carriers

We offer FREE standard shipping on orders within the United States unless otherwise stated. Orders are typically shipped using UPS. USPS or another carrier may be used for PO Boxes, remote areas, Alaska, Hawaii, or other locations when appropriate.

International customers may select from available shipping carriers and services during checkout.

Precut Window Tint Kit Processing Time

Precut Window Tint Kits are custom made-to-order products cut specifically for the vehicle and options selected by the customer.

Most precut kit orders require approximately 1-3 business days for processing, production, quality review, packaging, and shipment preparation after purchase.

During holidays, sales events, peak seasons, severe weather, equipment interruptions, or periods of high order volume, additional business days may be required.

Window Tint Roll Processing Time

Most Window Tint Roll orders ship within 1 business day after purchase. Depending on current order volume, inventory preparation, and time of year, processing may occasionally require additional business days.

Business Days

Federal holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays are not considered business days.

Tracking Information

Tracking information is automatically emailed after an order has been processed, packaged, and scheduled for carrier pickup.

A tracking number may not show movement immediately. Tracking updates generally begin after the carrier physically receives and scans the package into its distribution system.

Estimated Delivery Dates

Any delivery date shown during checkout, by a carrier, or in tracking information is an estimate and is not guaranteed unless the selected carrier service specifically includes a delivery guarantee.

Northern Tint is not responsible for carrier delays, missed estimates, weather interruptions, transportation disruptions, or other events outside our control.

Signature Confirmation

Certain orders may require a signature upon delivery. Signature confirmation may be added based on order value, delivery location, order history, fraud prevention measures, or other risk considerations.

Address Accuracy

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address during checkout, including apartment, suite, unit, and business information when applicable.

Northern Tint is not responsible for delivery problems, delays, losses, or additional charges resulting from an incomplete, incorrect, or invalid address supplied by the customer.

Address Changes After Purchase

Address changes are not guaranteed after an order is placed. Once an order has entered production, been packaged, or been transferred to the carrier, the shipping address may no longer be changed.

Delivered But Not Received

If tracking shows a package as delivered but it cannot be located, the customer should first check the delivery location, household members, neighbors, parcel lockers, building management, and any delivery photo or notice provided by the carrier.

The customer may also be required to contact the carrier and cooperate with a missing package or delivery investigation. Replacement or refund eligibility, if any, will be determined after the available tracking information and carrier investigation are reviewed.

Carrier Delays, Loss, and Damage

Shipping carriers occasionally experience delays, routing errors, damage, and lost packages that are outside Northern Tint's control. Customers must cooperate with reasonable carrier claim and investigation requirements.

Shipping damage should be reported promptly and must include clear photos of the product, shipping box, packaging materials, shipping label, and visible damage.

Orders, Changes & Cancellations

Custom Made-To-Order Products

Precut Window Tint Kits and other custom-cut products are manufactured specifically for each customer order. They are not standard stocked items that can always be returned to inventory or resold.

Production may begin shortly after an order is submitted, including before a tracking number is created or the order is marked as shipped.

Customer Responsibility Before Ordering

Customers are responsible for reviewing and verifying all information before submitting an order, including vehicle year, make, model, body style, door count, cab configuration, trim, glass style, tint shade, film type, roll size, quantity, selected options, contact information, and shipping address.

Submitting an order confirms that the customer reviewed the order details and authorized Northern Tint to begin processing and production.

Vehicle Information Requirements

Orders missing important vehicle information, or containing conflicting or unclear information, may be delayed, placed on hold, or canceled until the required information is provided.

Northern Tint is not responsible for delays caused by missing, inaccurate, incomplete, or unanswered vehicle information requests.

Order Changes

Requested changes are not guaranteed. If production has not started, Northern Tint may be able to modify an order. Once production begins, changes to the vehicle, pattern, film, shade, kit type, quantity, or shipping details may no longer be possible.

Order Cancellation Requests

Cancellation requests must be submitted as soon as possible. A request to cancel does not mean the order has been canceled.

An order is only canceled after Northern Tint confirms the cancellation. If production has already started, a custom product may no longer be cancelable or refundable, even if the order has not yet shipped.

Because custom production may begin shortly after purchase, Northern Tint cannot guarantee cancellations or changes after an order is submitted.

Fraud Prevention and Payment Verification

For security purposes, certain orders may require additional identity, address, or payment verification before production or shipment.

Orders flagged by fraud prevention systems may be delayed, limited, canceled, or refunded if verification cannot be completed.

Order Refusal Rights

Northern Tint reserves the right to refuse, cancel, limit, or decline future orders when reasonably necessary, including in cases involving suspected fraud, abusive behavior, repeated refund or replacement abuse, payment dispute abuse, threats, harassment, product misuse, or repeated violations of these policies.

Returns, Refunds & Exchanges

Return Authorization Required

All returns must be approved by Northern Tint before the product is shipped back. Products returned without authorization may be refused, returned to the sender, or subject to additional handling charges.

Window Tint Rolls

Returns for Window Tint Rolls are only accepted on unopened, unused, full 100-foot rolls that remain in new, resalable condition.

We do NOT accept returns on partial rolls, short rolls, opened rolls, used rolls, custom-cut material, installed film, or film that has been unrolled, cut, handled, contaminated, creased, or altered.

Return requests for eligible rolls must be made within 30 days of delivery.

Unless Northern Tint made an error, the customer is responsible for return shipping. Original shipping costs are non-refundable, and approved returns may be subject to restocking, handling, payment processing, or service fees.

Precut Window Tint Kits

Precut Window Tint Kits are custom-cut specifically for each order and are non-returnable once production has begun.

Returns, refunds, or complimentary replacements are only available when Northern Tint confirms that it made an order, production, or fulfillment error, or when another remedy is required by applicable law.

Installed, Used, or Altered Products

Film that has been installed, peeled, separated from its liner, heat shrunk, trimmed, cut, folded, creased, contaminated, damaged, discarded, or otherwise altered is not eligible for return.

Installation damage, handling damage, improper shrinking, contamination, trimming errors, orientation errors, and other installer-caused conditions are not manufacturing defects.

Refund Method and Timing

Approved refunds are normally issued to the original payment method. Financial institutions and payment processors may require additional time to post the refund after Northern Tint processes it.

Replacement Pieces

When an issue is not caused by Northern Tint, replacement pieces may be available for purchase. Northern Tint may, at its discretion, offer a discounted replacement as a courtesy. A courtesy discount does not constitute an admission that the original product was defective or incorrect.

Damage, Defect, Fitment & Missing Item Claims

Stop Installation and Contact Us

If any product appears damaged, defective, incorrect, incomplete, or unsuitable for the intended window, stop installation immediately and contact Northern Tint before proceeding.

Do not remove the liner, apply the film to glass, shrink, trim, cut, discard, or alter the product while the concern is being reviewed.

Inspection Before Installation

Before installation begins, the customer or installer must reasonably inspect the product and verify:

  • The order and vehicle information are correct.
  • The selected film type and shade appear correct.
  • All expected pieces are present.
  • Each piece is being matched to the correct window.
  • The orientation and intended side of each pattern have been identified.
  • The product shows no visible shipping or manufacturing damage.
  • The vehicle glass appears consistent with the ordered configuration.

Required Claim Evidence

To evaluate a claim, Northern Tint may require some or all of the following:

  • Order number and complete vehicle information.
  • Clear photos of the entire film piece laid flat.
  • Clear photos of the entire corresponding vehicle window.
  • Photos showing the film positioned against the outside of the glass before installation.
  • Photos of glass markings, logos, manufacturer information, or DOT codes.
  • Photos of the shipping box, packaging, label, and any visible shipping damage.
  • Measurements, videos, production markings, or other information reasonably needed to review the concern.

Close-up photos alone may not provide enough context. Customers must retain the product and packaging until Northern Tint completes its review.

Discarded or Unavailable Product

If the product has been discarded, destroyed, fully installed, or is otherwise unavailable for inspection, Northern Tint may be unable to verify the reported issue or provide a complimentary remedy.

Missing Item Claims

Missing item claims are reviewed using available order, production, packaging, shipment, and communication records. Northern Tint may request photos of all items received and the complete packaging.

A production or packaging record showing that a piece was made or included may be considered when determining the appropriate resolution.

Installation Acceptance

Beginning installation indicates that the customer or installer completed a reasonable pre-installation inspection and accepted the product's visible condition, identity, orientation, and suitability for installation.

Installing part of a kit does not automatically prove every remaining piece is correct; however, any concern must be reported before the affected piece is installed or altered.

Claim Resolution

Northern Tint will review the available evidence and determine whether the issue resulted from a confirmed Northern Tint error, shipping damage, vehicle variation, replacement glass, installation technique, handling, or another cause.

Depending on the findings, the available resolution may include instructions, a replacement piece, a discounted replacement, a carrier claim, a return authorization, a refund, or no complimentary remedy.

Installation & Handling Information

Professional Installation Recommended

Automotive window tint installation requires skill, patience, specialized tools, proper technique, and experience. Northern Tint strongly recommends professional installation for best results.

Northern Tint is not responsible for installation damage, glass damage, contamination, scratches, creases, tearing, peeling, shrinking mistakes, trimming errors, handling errors, or other installer-caused damage.

DIY Installation Risk Acknowledgement

Customers choosing self-installation accept the risks associated with DIY window tint installation. Installation difficulty or an unsuccessful result does not by itself indicate that the film or pattern is defective.

Pattern Orientation

Some left-side and right-side pieces may appear similar, and some patterns can be positioned upside down or reversed during handling. Confirm the correct window, side, top edge, bottom edge, and orientation before removing the liner or applying the film.

Protective Liner

Window film includes a clear protective liner over the adhesive side. The liner must be removed during installation. Confirm which side contains the liner before applying the film to the glass.

Heat Shrinking

Many rear windows, windshields, sunstrips, and curved windows require heat shrinking directly on the outside of the exact vehicle glass before installation.

Fingers, waves, or excess material visible before shrinking are not necessarily defects. Failure to properly shrink the film may cause creases, lifting, tunnels, fingers, bubbles, or installation failure.

Two-Piece Rear Window Kits

When a rear window kit is described as two-piece, the two pieces are intended to be installed together to cover the rear window. The second piece is not a spare or duplicate.

Frameless and Automatically Lowering Windows

Some frameless side windows automatically lower when a door is opened. The installer is responsible for using an appropriate installation method to position and access the complete glass safely.

Defroster Lines, Antennas, Dot Matrix, and Ceramic Borders

Factory defroster lines, embedded antennas, dot matrix patterns, ceramic frit borders, and textured areas may prevent a perfectly smooth appearance or complete adhesion in those locations.

These are characteristics of the vehicle glass and are not film defects.

Film Curing

Haze, moisture pockets, cloudiness, and small water bubbles may be normal during the curing process and often improve as the mounting solution evaporates.

Curing time varies with film type, temperature, humidity, sunlight, glass design, and installation conditions.

Installation Environment

Film should be installed in a clean, controlled environment. Wind, dust, lint, fibers, hair, dirty tools, contaminated solution, fingerprints, and debris introduced during installation are not product defects.

Cold Weather and Temperature Conditions

Cold temperatures may affect film flexibility, adhesive behavior, curing time, and installation difficulty. The installer is responsible for choosing suitable working conditions and techniques.

Glass and Vehicle Damage

The installer is responsible for protecting the vehicle, glass, defroster lines, electronics, trim, seals, and interior during installation and removal. Northern Tint is not responsible for damage caused during installation, trimming, scraping, heating, removal, or reinstallation.

Vehicle Fitment Information

OEM Glass Specifications

Precut patterns are generally designed from OEM factory glass specifications and available vehicle pattern data.

Fitment may differ when a vehicle has aftermarket, replacement, dealer-installed, imported, previously repaired, modified, or incorrectly identified glass.

Replacement Glass

Windshields and other vehicle glass are frequently replaced during the life of a vehicle. Replacement glass can differ from factory glass in shape, edge dimensions, mirror mounts, sensor areas, frit borders, antenna locations, or other details.

A vehicle's model year alone does not confirm that its current glass matches the original factory configuration.

Vehicle and Production Variations

Manufacturers may use more than one glass design within the same year, make, model, trim, body style, or production run. Mid-year changes and regional variations may also occur.

Different sensor packages, cameras, mirrors, antennas, trim levels, cab styles, door counts, roof options, and defroster layouts may affect pattern selection and fitment.

Customer-Provided Vehicle Information

Northern Tint relies on the vehicle information selected or supplied by the customer. If the vehicle is misidentified, modified, rebodied, imported, or equipped with different glass than expected, the customer may be responsible for purchasing the correct replacement pattern.

Minor Trimming and Adjustment

Precut does not always mean zero trimming under every condition. Due to glass variation, installation method, seal design, replacement glass, or pattern preference, minor trimming or adjustment may occasionally be required.

Side Window Fitment

Small edge gaps may be intentionally designed into certain patterns to improve installation, prevent edge contact, and support long-term durability.

Some side window pieces may appear slightly oversized so the film can be positioned or tucked behind weather seals during installation.

Pre-Shrunk Film

Precut kits are not pre-shrunk unless a product listing specifically states otherwise. Film for curved glass must be heat shrunk on the exact vehicle glass during installation.

Mirror, Sensor, Camera, and Cutout Areas

Mirror mounts, cameras, sensors, inspection stickers, antenna components, and aftermarket accessories may vary. Not every sunstrip or windshield pattern includes a precut opening for every component.

Some applications may require mirror removal, hand trimming, or installer adjustment.

Ordering Information & Custom Requests

Tint Shade and Film Selection

Customers are responsible for selecting the desired film type and visible light transmission shade. Screen appearance, lighting, existing factory tint, glass color, and viewing conditions can affect how a shade appears.

Northern Tint does not guarantee that a selected shade will exactly match factory privacy glass, existing tint, another brand of film, or film previously installed on the vehicle.

Mixed Shade Requests

Mixed shade combinations may be available when clearly requested before production begins. Requests submitted after production starts may not be accommodated.

Order Notes and Custom Requests

Order notes are reviewed when available, but a note does not guarantee that a request can be completed. Northern Tint may contact the customer for clarification or may decline requests that cannot be produced reliably.

Mirror Cutouts

Certain windshield and sunstrip products may include mirror cutouts when requested and when an appropriate pattern is available. Availability varies by vehicle and glass configuration.

Support Requests

Customers contacting support regarding fitment, damage, missing items, or installation concerns may be required to provide photos, videos, measurements, vehicle information, glass markings, installation details, packaging, and order information.

Failure to provide reasonably requested information may prevent Northern Tint from verifying the issue or offering a complimentary resolution.

Communication Accuracy

Customers should provide accurate and complete information when requesting support. Northern Tint may rely on the information and images supplied when evaluating the concern and recommending a resolution.

Legal Compliance

Customers are solely responsible for determining and complying with all local, state, provincial, and federal window tint laws and regulations that apply to the vehicle and installation location.

Northern Tint is not responsible for unlawful installation, inspection failure, citation, fine, removal requirement, or other consequence resulting from the customer's film selection or use.

Labor and Consequential Cost Disclaimer

Unless required by applicable law, Northern Tint is not responsible for installation labor, removal labor, reinstallation costs, glass replacement, vehicle damage, shop downtime, lost income, travel expenses, rental vehicles, third-party service charges, or other incidental or consequential costs.

Product Warranty and Remedy Limitation

Any warranty or remedy is limited to the product supplied by Northern Tint and is subject to inspection, verification, and the terms stated on this page or in any applicable product-specific warranty.

Unless otherwise required by law, Northern Tint's maximum responsibility for a claim will not exceed the amount paid for the affected product.

No Guarantee of Installation Outcome

Northern Tint supplies window film and precut patterns but does not control the installer, vehicle condition, glass condition, tools, technique, environment, preparation, or curing conditions. Therefore, Northern Tint cannot guarantee a specific installation outcome.

Records and Payment Disputes

Northern Tint maintains order, production, packaging, shipment, tracking, delivery, website, and communication records. These records may be used to verify order fulfillment, policy acceptance, production status, delivery, and customer communications during payment disputes, carrier claims, or other investigations.

By placing an order, the customer acknowledges that relevant records and communications may be provided to payment processors, financial institutions, carriers, marketplaces, insurers, or other parties involved in resolving a claim or dispute.

Fraudulent or Abusive Claims

Northern Tint may dispute claims, chargebacks, refund demands, or replacement requests that are inconsistent with available order, production, delivery, photo, installation, or communication evidence.

Communication Conduct Policy

Northern Tint is committed to professional communication. We reserve the right to limit or discontinue communication, refuse service, or cancel future orders when a customer engages in harassment, threats, abusive language, discriminatory language, fraudulent claims, excessive repeated messaging, or other conduct that prevents a reasonable resolution.

Policy Interpretation and Updates

Northern Tint may update these policies from time to time. The policy version in effect when the order was placed will generally apply to that order, except where a later change is required by law or is more favorable to the customer.

Consumer Rights

Nothing on this page is intended to waive any non-waivable rights or remedies provided to consumers under applicable law.
